Children at a remote village in northeast India had a short lesson in the geography of Canada in March 2010.  They met with Fertile Ground volunteers and Pompy Ghosh, a staff member of Fertile Ground who works at the Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa resource centre in Assam.

The group visited the school to present the teachers and students with school supplies, picture books and soccer balls purchased with funds raised by a group of elementary students from the Comox Valley.  The project was made possible with the help of 8 year old Onyx Vaughan-Ogilvie from Merville, and Madison, Emily and Jenica Kelly (11, 9 and 7) from Pt. Holmes.

This year, Fertile Ground also donated funds to make much-needed building repairs, including a new roof for a school where children from the Singpho tribe study their language, songs and dances.
