.....in Assam, we work with a number of visionary organic farmers, small-scale tea growers, NGO's, extension workers
and people like Mahan Borah, seed saver and founder of Annapurna Seed Library.
Read about Mahan's important work at

Mahan is a regular visitor to the school, located in Jorhat, Assam.  With the help of students attending the school,
he created this extensive display of the seeds of vegetables, local rice and other grains

Beginning in 2005, Fertile Ground played a key role in the design, development and operation of
Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa, an Organic Demonstration Garden & Training Centre situated in Digboi.
ASP is currently supported by co-founders Indian Oil Corporation (Assam Oil Division) and Rotary Club of Digboi.

the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Indian Oil Corporation (AOD)
and contributions from Fertile Ground.

As well as providing training, demonstrations and a source of organically-grown vegetables to local consumers,
ASP also hosts special events, meetings and workshops throughout the year.
Bijit Basumatary, pictured above, General Secretary of the Organic Small Tea Growers Association of North East (India),
addressed tea growers in the meeting room facility developed by IOC (AOD) and Rotary Club Digboi at Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa.
