Immediate Job Opening for Manager of “Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa”
Organic Demonstration Garden and Training Centre situated in Digboi, Assam
 
Funded under the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of Indian Oil Corporation Limited
This project is jointly managed by IOCL (AOD), Fertile Ground (NGO, Canada),
Rotary Club Digboi, and Axum Agri (NGO, Assam)
 

The Manager will be responsible for overseeing operation and development of the garden and training centre, and various activities associated with the centre.
 
Responsibilities:
  • conduct educational workshops and special events focused on sustainable agricultural practices;
  • maintain accurate activity and financial reports
  • oversee the work of garden staff
  • look for means of generating revenue through sale of vegetables, plants and saplings and natural inputs produced onsite to help offset  project operating costs
  • periodically supervise the work of volunteers from India and abroad who wish to learn about organic farming and assist in maintenance and development of the organic garden
 
Educational background:  The successful candidate will be a graduate from any stream.   A background in Science with knowledge of Organic Farming will be preferred.  
 
Skills and experience:   Computer skills (Word, Excel, Ppt., etc.) and basic bookkeeping experience are essential.  The ability to effectively plan and manage events and experience in planning and long-range program development will be an added advantage.   
 
The Manager must be able to communicate well in both English and Hindi and should have working knowledge of Assamese.
 
The position requires a strong team player who enjoys working with a wide range of people.  Previous work experience with an agriculture-based NGO and an interest in traditional Vedic farming practices, Zero-budget farming, Permaculture and other innovative approaches to land management would be very beneficial
 
Salary and benefits:  This is a 2 year posting, subject to the successful candidate’s performance and availability of funding.  Starting salary is Rs. 20,000/month.  Basic accommodation may be available if required.
 
Screening of applications will begin February 15, 2016, and interviews will take place in early March.  The successful candidate should be available to begin work no later than the end of March.
