School supplies for elementary school students in Ambikapur, Assam

Biki Tanti, son of one of the gardeners working at the Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa project in Assam, travelled to Ambikapur village with his father Babu to distribute school supplies to children living in this very remote corner of Assam.   In 2011, Fertile Ground volunteers helped set up a demonstration garden for families living in this region, to help them learn how to improve sandy soil by making compost.    With funding from Strathcona Sunrise Rotary and other clubs from District 5020, the group also constructed playground equipment at 2 local schools.
